Daisy is a potential lifelong companion and a best friend! She is a sweet and affectionate puppy, roughly six months old and weighs about 40 pounds. She is a mutt mix, likely Black Mouth Cur, with possibly some Hound and Jack Russell. She is fully spayed and up-to-date on all vaccinations.
Found alone and dirty near a remote roadside in Pisgah National Forest, she has brought so much excitement and love into our home since we took her in. Daisy is extremely smart and trainable; she is crate and house trained and knows commands like "sit," "off," "lay down," and "come." She is very energetic and loves to run, making her an excellent adventure partner. She also has the softest fur, loves to snuggle, and enjoys belly rubs.
She has a lot of energy and gets along great with our three-year-old Doberman/German Shepherd mix; they love to play together.
Challenges: Daisy is protective of the house and can be wary of new people, especially when they come inside. She does better with introductions in public places. We've found that she warms up when approached slowly and gently petted, which shows her you are not a threat. Her behavior is typical of a puppy, including barking at unknown noises and strangers and being eager to investigate on walks.
Ideal Home: Daisy requires a lot of attention and exercise. She would thrive with an active individual or family who can continue her training and provide her with plenty of stimulation. She has the potential to be a loyal companion for kids and other pets.

All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at pets@mpravl.org for more information.
Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label.
Mountain Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax deductible charity (EIN 82-3039637) located in Asheville, NC.
