My story

Report on Aster's day out with a volunteer:

Aster and I had a great day walking downtown yesterday!

She is so good in the car, jumping right in with no encouragement needed.

We took several laps around the craft fair downtown, calmly meeting new people and meeting dogs with no troubles.

She is so playful, and she really enjoyed `fetch` in Central Park (I ran with her so she stayed on leash).

We walked more around my neighborhood after meeting my family.

She has a medium to low prey drive, only chasing one squirrel but leaving rabbits alone.

Her number 1 priority while walking is finding food on the ground, so I watched her closely to make sure she didn't gobble anything up.

She only got nervous and backed away from meeting one person, but I kinda get it because he was dressed as Santa with a big red suit and black gloves! Even so, she just politely stepped away.

She's a very good girl!

All animals are up-to-date on vaccinations (including rabies if over 4 months old), microchipped, and spayed or neutered. All dogs have been been vaccinated with DHPP and Bordatella (kennel cough) and heartworm tested negative (if over 6 months). All cats have been vaccinated with FVRCP and current on flea control. To adopt you must have a photo ID and proof of your current address. If not on your ID then bring in a bill with your name and your current address. If you rent you must provide a lease clearly stating the pet policy or provide a name and phone number for your landlord so that we may confirm the pet policy. If you own your home you may provide a mortgage statement or property tax bill for proof.

You must be 18 years or older to adopt.

If you wish to adopt a dog and have other dog(s) at home, please bring them with you to the shelter so that they may meet. Even if your dog is wonderful with other dogs, many of the dogs at the shelter have come in as strays so we have no history on them and need to be sure they get along with your pet(s).
