This pet was brought in by a community member on July 20, 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Rufus, a gentle pup with a sweet-as-pie soul and a heart full of love! He can be a bit shy with new faces, but once he gets to know you, he will reward you with loyal companionship and wiggly affection. Rufus loves to go for walks and has wonderful leash manners! He enjoys taking things a little slower, stopping to smell the roses - and the rocks and the grass and anything else he finds. Rufus is one smart cookie and is more than happy to show you how he can "sit" and "shake" for a treat. Rufus doesn't seem to mind seeing other dogs on walks, but doesn't have a known history of living with other canines. He will however need to go to a home without cats or small pets. If you're ready to welcome a goofy, playful, loving friend into your home, look no further than sweet Rufus!

Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized.
