My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
This pet was brought in by a community member on August 17, 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Mija, an energetic and sweet pup who adores people! Mija greets new friends with wiggles and a wagging tail, and with the help of some tasty treats, she'll be your new best friend. Sometimes her excitement can get the best of her, so she'll thrive with a structured environment and opportunities to channel her energy into positive outlets. In the yard, Mija hops around with joy and excitement, and shows off her zoomies. She walks well on a leash and responds well to positive reinforcement training. Mija has shown mixed reactions to other dogs in our care, so she is looking for a home where she can be the only dog. If you're looking for a playful and loving companion to brighten your days, Mija could be your gal!

At SDHS:

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
