My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please go to our website at www.milehighlabmission.com to find out more about this pet and to submit an adoption application.

Please DO NOT call or email us; all information about current dogs available, adoption donations, vetting, and this specific dog are on our website.

We are a non-profit organization and we are completely 100% volunteer run.

We DO NOT have a shelter and only approved applicants can make appointments with our foster homes to meet the dogs we have.

Our volunteers will not discuss dogs we have available for adoption UNTIL you have an application on file and are approved to adopt.

General Notes | Kay is a gentle soul. This sweet girl takes her time to shine, preferring to observe the world with a calm and quiet spirit. She is looking for a patient family who will give her the time she needs to truly sparkle. Once she does, she promises to be a loyal and adoring companion. Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.

Personality | Kay is a bit timid and shy at first, but settles in and is very loving. She is timid around new people but once she warms up, she will be your shadow and will follow you around asking for pets. Her favorite spot is by her person on the couch. She is still adjusting to the big world around her after growing up outside in rural Texas! Watching her come out of her shell, getting zoomies, giving big tail wags, showing her quirky side had been wonderful. She truly is the sweetest

Story | Kay came from a home with ~10+ other dogs in rural Texas. By her mannerisms we assume she used to have to compete for love. We want her to be the center of attention, she deserves it!

Other Dogs | Kay came from a home with 10 (!!!) dogs! She enjoys playing with other dogs, however she also does well alone and with down time.

Cats | Kay has not been cat tested.

Children | Kay has not been kiddo tested yet, but with a positive introduction (hello, cheese and hotdog snacks!) she could do well in homes with kind and respectful kiddos. She can be skiddish and would do well with kids who are old enough to understand she may need more time to feel comfortable.

Training | Kay is potty trained and is working on confidence with the crate. She does settle in the crate, but is a little confused when first put her in. She knows "Sit". She is learning other basic commands and is food motivated (especially for hot dogs!) and sweet.

Leash | Kay walks well (but is very timid) on the leash! She does best when it is very quiet, or if she has another dog, and her future family is willing to be very patient while she settles in.

Activity Level | Moderate.

Health Notes |

Thank you! |

Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $525. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog).

Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only.  To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process.

Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption.

We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page!

We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved.  Your application is good for one year from the date of applying for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.
