Meet Elliot. We are guessing he is a 2 year old Australian shepherd/lab mix with maybe some hound or even Greater Swiss Mountain Dog. No matter his breed he is 100% good boy! He is a great size at 50 pounds.
Elliot came into the shelter as a stray. He can be nervous in new situations so an adult only home or one with older children would be ideal. As he gains trust in his people his personality really starts showing. He is a goofy boy who loves to be near his humans. He would do well in an active house and may even thrive in dog sports like agility. He is still learning proper manners like not to jump on people or play nip. He also does not understand the concept of personal space. We are working on these. Elliot is slowly learning about toys and how to play with them, instead on hands. Elliot does well on leash. He can pull some, especially when seeing another dog or critter, but does better when using a no pull harness. He rides well in the car so may make a great adventure buddy! He is a great mix of active and snuggle bug. Once he gets his energy out he loves nothing more than to nap on the couch by his person. He does really enjoy running around in his fenced in yard. He has been having a blast in all the snow!
Elliot had some marking in the house when he first came home, but he has been doing great with potty training since then. We do try to let him out more frequently when we are home, but he can go for 6-7 hours while we work. He is crated at night and when we are not home. He whines a bit, but does seem to settle down.
Elliot is currently living with 2 smaller dogs. He overall is doing very well with them. He can be a little possessive with food and treats so feeding separately is recommended. Otherwise he loves to play with his foster brother and torment his foster sister. He can be a little over bearing, and doesn’t seem to understand when the other dogs have had enough. We do not know about cats. Elliot is going to be a great companion.
