Meet the Pet
This helps The Rescue Crew with pet care costs.
Hi there, I’m Rhubarb — a sweet 2-year-old tabby girl with a tender heart and a story that’s still being written.
I didn’t have the easiest start in life. I was found outside and brought to Saint Paul Animal Control before making my way to The PURRfect Match. At first, the busy cat room felt overwhelming, so the humans decided I might blossom better in a quiet foster home — and they were right.
Now, in my foster home, I’ve really begun to shine. I share a peaceful room with my foster parents and get to explore the rest of the home a few times a day. I’m polite and curious around the family’s Sheltie, and I keep to myself around the resident cat who isn’t quite sure what to think of me. I’m a gentle girl who enjoys observing, napping, and soaking in all the comforts of home.
Let me tell you about my favorite things:
Boiled chicken (kept in that magical fridge!)
Napping during Zoom meetings — I’m a great office assistant
Watching birds and wildlife out the window
Morning and nighttime cuddle sessions
Soft blankets, gentle brushing, and my Santa “Lamb Chop” toy
Greeting my humans at the door when they return home
I’m a cat who bonds deeply once I feel safe. I love routine, soft voices, and people who move at my pace. If you give me time to trust you, I’ll give you all the quiet affection in the world.
A Note About My “Special Needs” I want to be honest with you — I’m considered a “special needs” kitty because I have what’s called regressive FeLV (feline leukemia virus).
Here’s the simple version:
My foster mom believes the stress of the shelter made me feel run-down for a little while (which made my earlier tests confusing), but once I settled into a calm home, my body bounced back — and now I'm healthy, eating well, playing, and showing my true personality.
Every vet has slightly different opinions about FeLV, so it’s important for adopters to read up and decide what feels comfortable for them. But what matters most right now is this: I feel good, I’m thriving, and I’m ready to find my person.
If you’re a gentle soul with a quiet home and a soft blanket — and you’re open to giving a special girl like me a chance — I promise I’ll fill your days with warmth, routine, and the sweetest companionship.
I can’t wait to meet my purrfect match.
Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. All companion animals adopted by The Rescue Crew are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, tested for FIV/FeLK (cats) or heartworm (dogs), microchipped, dewormed and provided with monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives prior to adoption.
The Rescue Crew is a foster based rescue organization, meaning all of our adoptable pets are located in homes throughout Minnesota. We do not have a physical location where you can stop by to visit the animals - we require the completion of an Adoption Application prior to meeting any of our adoptable pets in foster care. For the most complete information regarding this animal, and all of our adoptable pets, please ensure you are visiting our website directly at www.RescueCrew.org. You can also access the necessary online adoption application here as well.
