My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Isla — Your Sunshine in Dog Form!

Isla is a joyful, tail-wagging Boxer mix sweetheart who greets every day with her signature big smile. Whether she’s exploring the backyard or joining you on a peaceful nature walk, she radiates happiness and curiosity everywhere she goes. She’s the perfect blend of playful and gentle — a little timid at first, but always eager to bond.

Isla adores people of all ages and enjoys being around other dogs. Like many Boxers, she has lots of energy and enthusiasm, and she was never really taught how to play appropriately with other dogs. She wants to play — and loves to — but can sometimes be a bit too bouncy or forward. With patient guidance and well-matched playmates, she’s learning better manners every day.

She’s a great companion on walks and typically heels beautifully; if she gets excited and pulls, a simple reminder brings her right back. Her food motivation makes training fun and easy, and she already knows her basics. Isla is crate trained, fully house trained, two years old, and weighs about 55 pounds.

At home, her sweet and calm temperament shines. She’s shown zero signs of food or toy aggression and loves sharing her space. And if you’re open to couch snuggles… she’ll happily curl up and claim her cozy throne like the queen she is.

Isla is ready to bring joy, companionship, and a whole lot of love to her forever family. Could that be you?

If you are interested in adopting Isla, please submit an inquiry directly to Greater Charlotte SPCA by visiting charlottespca.org/adopt. The adoption amount is a suggested donation of $200 to $300 dollars based on the pet's age.

**Because our rescue is composed entirely of volunteers, local applications will take precedence. We will accept out of town applications, but any family is responsible for coming to Charlotte to complete a meet and greet. All out of town applicants will also have to be willing to drive to Charlotte to pick up the pet as soon as they are approved to adopt. **

Additional adoption info

After you have found your new best friend, please read our adoption FAQ then submit our online adoption interest form at www.charlottespca.org/adopt

The Greater Charlotte SPCA does not own or operate a shelter facility. Volunteers foster all animals in their homes until adopted. Many of our animals come from high-kill shelters and other rescue situations. We find that fostering gives us the opportunity to assess the animal's personality and needs. This allows us to best match them with the right adoptive family. Also, we are able to provide all care and medical needs for our animals. It enables the animal to develop a happy frame of mind before adoption. We have many wonderful animals looking for a forever home.

Go meet their pets

We hold adoption events every weekend around the Greater Charlotte area. Check our website www.charlottespca.org for upcoming event details. If you would like to meet a particular animal, please contact us so that we can arrange for the foster to bring the animal to the event.
