History: Our Out of the Cold Rescue Effort was a great success in welcoming over 180+ animals to rescue from rural areas in North Dakota before the cold set in. These animals are all so deserving and thankful to get a second chance in finding a forever home of their own!
A Note from the Foster: Kiska is a 3 year old more petite but muscular lab mix who loves all people and other dogs. She loves to play with her 18 pound foster sister but also learned quickly the 65 pound resident dog wasn't terribly friendly and she should be left alone (she keeps trying to get her to play - but no luck yet!) She easily goes in her kennel to eat or when we need to leave the house. Some nights she sleeps there, other times she's with her foster mom on the bed or on a dog bed - she really is super flexible! She is totally potty trained and will sit by the door or paw the door to go outside.
Kiska loves dog toys, especially bones and plush toys and playing tug with her foster sister. She enjoys sitting on the front step in the sun and watching the neighborhood (on a lead). She is a very quiet dog unless a dog or person come by and then she has a deep bark to let you know they're there. She is highly food motivated and can reach the counter, so we are working on not jumping up. She is also in the process of learning to sit and stay, but it is definitely a work in progress.
She has not been around small children - but as gentle as she is it will likely be fine. She also has not been around cats, but that may be fine as well since she hasn't tried to chase other animals and is so gentle with her much smaller foster sister.
Kiska came to us from North Dakota and is scheduled to be spayed 12/7
