History: 🧡 From Texas to Midwest 🤠—- A group of deserving dogs was recently welcomed as part of our Texas Transport Program! A program launched to make an impactful difference for our partner shelters in Texas facing the overpopulation of animals with limited resources and low adoption rates. We are excited to help these southern gems find loving forever homes to call their own!
A Note from the Foster: Hi, I’m Jack Frost ❄️
Snow angel. Gentle boy. Professional treasure hunter, and unlike the Christmas song, I don’t nip at noses or toeses….kiss- maybe, hugs THOSE ARE MY FAVORITE!!!!!
I’m a 10-month-old Pyrador (so I’m told) 40 pounds, and happiest when I’m outside exploring — which is why I need a fenced yard. Snow, wind, sticks, hidden treasures… the outdoors is my kingdom.
But as soon as I come inside, I turn into the calmest, sweetest lap dog you’ve ever met. I know when it’s time to settle, and I settle instantly.
Here’s everything you should know about me:
• Potty-trained. Fully. Consistently. Perfectly.
• I sleep all night long. I put myself to bed around 8:30 p.m. and wake gently around 5:30–6 a.m. with a soft whine and a gentle paw on your bed.
• I can get nervous trying new things, but if I see my supervisor (my foster sister) do it a couple times I get brave and am ready to learn. I’d love a dog companion to help me continue in my confidence building.
• I love my crate when you leave, but I prefer sleeping with the pack at night.
• I pick up commands FAST: I know SIT, I come to my name right away, and I watch humans and dogs closely to learn what to do.
• I’m great on a leash — unless I see a squirrel. Then I consider chasing, but the moment the leash tightens, I stop and wait like a perfect gentleman.
• I have the Pyrador “Pyr Paws” where I gently put my paws on you — not to knock you over, just to hold your hands and hug….We’re working on it.
• I’m playful outside, calm inside, goofy when it’s allowed, and respectful always. I share and play well with others.
And because I am part retriever…
I LOVE to sniff, search, and find things.
If I discover a treasure in the yard like an old toy, I don’t hide it — I proudly bring it straight to you like, “Look what I found! I did a job!!”
It’s my way of contributing to the team. My foster mom hides things for me and says, ‘go hunting!’ It’s the funnest game ever!
My foster siblings have been teaching me the ropes, too!
• I’m supervised by a bossy 7-year-old heeler — and I listen to her because she knows things. She helps me build my confidence!
• I have a 13-year-old husky bestie who loves snow and cuddles. We sunbathe in the snow together like two little Arctic spirits.
• If she’s outside and I’m not, she gives one bark and I immediately ask to go join her. We’re a pair.
If you’re looking for a gentle-hearted, snow-loving, treasure-finding boy who learns quickly, sleeps beautifully, and gives the softest morning greetings in existence, I might be your perfect companion.
Oh! I forgot to mention! My foster mom says I’m soft like a squishmallow, whatever that means, it gets me more pets so I’m all for it :)
Love,
Jack Frost ❄️
