Freddie is a cute 2-year old male Labrador Retriever/Terrier mix who was brought to the HSOV on October 4, 2024 by an individual who found him on Warner Street in Marietta Ohio. Freddie was not wearing a collar, and he was not microchipped.
Freddie has a beautifully-marked black/white coat, a long tail, and an adorable symmetrically-marked face with dark brown eyes, a black button nose, and large floppy/semi-erect ears.
This sweet boy had a friendly, rather demure, personality.
Freddie is a medium-sized dog who weighed 44.7 lbs when he entered our shelter, and he walked well on a leash.
In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Freddie was held for three days so that his family would have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership.
Since Freddie was not reclaimed, he was neutered on January 13, 2025 and was also given rabies vaccine.
Freddie went home with a foster family on February 1, 2025, but he was returned to HSOV on February 7, 2025 after Freddie tested positive for Lyme disease,
Freddie went home with another foster family on March 28, 2025 who dearly loved this little guy and had planned to adopt him if all went well.
Unfortunately, Freddie was returned by his foster family on October 7, 2025 and came back into our shelter following a confrontation with a neighborhood dog who was near the front of their home (and Freddie was possibly thinking that he was protecting his family).
His foster family noted that Freddie was a friendly boy, and he had been great with two dogs and two cats who had shared his home. Freddie is housetrained.
Like many dogs, Freddie does not like baths.
Freddie likes car rides, being outdoors, and playing fetch. He is still working on learning basic commands.
Freddie has participated in several off-site HSOV events and enjoyed those outings.
These updated photos of Freddie were taken on November 13, 2025 when HSOV Volunteer Jennie Payton Sherrard accompanied him outdoors late in the afternoon for a short walk and a photo session in the autumn leaves. This little sweetheart was a pushover for attention that afternoon. Freddie would love to find an appropriate home with someone to love and spoil him to his heart's content.
