Meet Teakwood, a sweet and friendly girl who is an absolute joy to be around. She is both affectionate and playful, and loves engaging with her person. Teakwood enjoys working on the agility obstacles and truly enjoys engaging and working for treats. She does well on her walks, and is generally an easy walker with an occasional tug when something interesting catches her eye. Teakwood knows “sit” and clearly has fun learning and exploring. This sweet and friendly 5-year-old girl weighs about 71 pounds and is ready to brighten someone’s life.
In the yard, Teakwood is a joy to watch. This bouncy, happy girl loves chasing toys, can entertain herself, and will happily come over for back scratches—often with a toy still proudly in her mouth. When it’s time to slow down, she’s wonderfully calm and content sitting on a bench, soaking up pets and affection. Teakwood is an affectionate, appreciative girl who truly enjoys human companionship. She recently enjoyed a Dog’s Day Out adventure and truly shined! She’s a fun, athletic girl who loves playing fetch, getting her zoomies out, and staying engaged with her surroundings. Teakwood even enjoyed sitting on a bench to take in the view—showing off both her brains and her sweet, thoughtful side as she watched ducks by the water.
During her short-term foster stay, Teakwood showed just how special she is—full of joy, affectionate, and ready to live her best life alongside her people. She is a happy, playful, good-natured girl who truly thrives when she can balance active playtime with cozy cuddle time. Though she’s on the larger side, she’s very aware of her body and space, moving with a loose, wiggly confidence. Convinced she’s a lap dog, she loves curling up on the couch or in bed, especially during chilly weather, making her an excellent cuddle companion. She enjoys enrichment through chewing and tug toys and will happily toss toys around to entertain herself.
Teakwood is house-trained with a consistent routine and doesn’t require frequent breaks, though she doesn’t strongly signal when she needs to go out—so a bell or similar cue could be helpful. She’s generally a quiet pup, only barking appropriately at strangers or unexpected noises. When left alone uncrated she did not have any accidents and mostly slept on the couch. She’s very tolerant of handling and even enjoyed bath time - she eagerly jumped in and was patient during the bath. She listens very well, obeying commands in and out of the home

When you arrive, you will first be asked to fill out our Shelter Adoption Application with your information. You may also pre-fill our Shelter Adoption Application ahead of time online to save time when you are at the shelter. Your application will be processed after you meet the animal.
Step 3: Tour our adoption rooms and write down the names of animals that you would like to meet. A volunteer or staff member will help you meet your chosen animals to make a match!
Step 4: When you have selected the right animal for you, our Adoptions Team will run your Adoption Application for approval. Once your application is approved, you will participate in an adoption class where you will learn all of the details about your new adopted family member, including their known history and medical records.
