Opaline—affectionately known as Lily—is a bright, goofy, and deeply affectionate young lady who is thriving in her foster home. She’s the kind of dog who wants to be right by your side at all times, soaking up love, cuddling on the couch, and making you laugh with her playful, attention-seeking antics.
Inside the home, Opaline is wonderful. She’s calm, happy, and able to relax with ease, often snoozing when left alone. She’s fully housetrained, though during heavy rain or snow she may occasionally choose a pee pad—something that has been helpful as she continues adjusting to a new environment. She loves toys, chew treats like collagen bones, and has recently shown more interest in indoor play, including fetch and gentle wrestling with her favorite human.
Opaline is an absolute sweetheart with people. She enjoys meeting neighbors and greets new friends with enthusiasm and happy jumps (never mouthy). She thrives on attention and will happily nuzzle your face or gently initiate play just to be close to you.
On leash, Opaline is still a work in progress. She has a high prey drive and can be a strong puller, especially when she spots squirrels or other critters. Walks can be overstimulating for her right now, and she tends to be hyper-alert outdoors. That said, she does well on hikes where she can sniff and explore at her own pace, and she responds best to patient handling, consistency, and positive reinforcement. She knows basic commands like sit, come, and lay down—she’s just a bit stubborn (in a charming way!).
Opaline has had a positive interaction meeting another dog, showing playful curiosity and calmer body language, especially when the other dog wasn’t reactive. Continued confidence-building, socialization, and structured introductions will help her succeed.
She’s loyal, affectionate, silly, and full of love—an incredible companion for someone who enjoys an engaged, people-focused dog and is willing to support her with training and guidance outdoors.
Opaline is currently in a foster home. If you’re interested in meeting this cuddly, goofy sweetheart, please submit an adoption application and email dogfosters@barcs.org to be connected with her foster family.
