My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Levon! He is a 3 year old Akbash/Lab mix, searching for his forever home.

This big fella is the embodiment of a "friendly giant"! After coming to us as a stray, Levon had made his mark in the hearts of everyone he has met, dog and person alike. He really only needs two things in life to make him happy: Wide open spaces, and infinite pets and cuddles!

Levon appears to be a mix of livestock guardian breeds similar to the Akbash. Known for being territorial, courageous, and loyal, they are highly intelligent but require an experienced owner for proper training and socialization. LSG breeds need plenty of room, so it's a necessity that Levon has a significantly sized, fenced outdoor area to spend his time. Akbashes are intelligent but independent, which can make training a challenge, and can be difficult for new owners to manage.

Levon was found in a rural area, and appears to have little to no experience entering buildings/doorways or being on leash. A potential adopter will need to be willing to work on building new, positive experiences out in the world. When he first came to the shelter, Levon appeared to have inflammation issues with his skin and ears, including ear infections. He has been treated for these issues, but may need to be on an ongoing hypoallergenic diet.

The greatest place this oversized lap dog could live his life is on a large property, farm, or acreage, with indoor/outdoor access or access to a weatherproof shelter. Given his history of being found as a stray, it is best that Leon is supervised in open areas, or secure in a fenced area. Levon loves other dogs, and would thrive with doggie siblings in his life. This special boy is awaiting his wide open spaces, and his future family's wide open arms.

**Levon is awaiting neuter surgery, and is available for Foster-To-Adopt until he has been neutered and medically cleared for adoption.**
