My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Adorable Alita! This sweet girl is a playful pup with energy to burn. Alita is looking for a home that can keep her body and mind busy with fun activities and adventures. She is learning to walk nicely on the leash and to keep her feet on the ground, but she will need some guidance with positive reinforcement training. Luckily, she really loves her treats and is always eager for some!

Alita has not been introduced to other dogs in shelter yet, but she seems very interested in them and would potentially do well with a canine friend. Due to her bouncy nature, she may not be a good fit for a home with small children, however she may do well with older dog-savvy kids.

Alita has a spay booked for December 9th and would be able to go home after that. If you are interested in adopting her, please send in an application!

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

    Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

    Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

    Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

    1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

    2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

    3. Freedom from distress

    4. Freedom from discomfort

    5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
