My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet our special little girl, Teensy! This sweet little gal is ready to find the quiet, calm and understanding home she's been dreaming of, and settle in with her new family.

Teensy is a nervous little lady and finds life to be a bit frightening with all the activity we navigate day to day. She is hoping for an adopter who is experienced and committed to helping her find coping skills and working with her to ease her discomfort in new situations. She does better in familiar environments and thrives on routine and predictability!

Teensy has been showing us sneak peaks and bits of her loving and gentle personality, getting the odd zoomies here and there, and relishing in pets and love offered by her friends. She doesn't want you to stop loving on her and gently paws and whines for more of your attention. We can't wait to see her true personality shine through and know she will be a very loving companion! She loves to snuggle up in her bed, and has been playing with a few of her toys, so we know with some progress she will thrive!

We know Teensy is cute as a button and everyone will want her, but she is seeking an adopter who is willing to attend Animal Kind Training sessions that we arrange and be comfortable administering her anxiety medications. Her ideal adopter is committed to her welfare and ensuring they follow the behavior plans to give Teensy the best chance at feeling better day to day.

If you're ready to offer this sweet one a home where she can get the dedication she needs and craves, apply below!

** Please note we do not have walk in viewing set up at our branch for dogs and do require an application so we can appropriately screen and have a proper conversation about Teensy and her needs.**

****Due to the high volume of applications we receive for small dogs, please know unfortunately we will not be able to respond to everyone. Thank you

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

    Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

    Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

    Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

    1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

    2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

    3. Freedom from distress

    4. Freedom from discomfort

    5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
