Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We require an adoption application; we check all references; and upon adoption, we require the adopter to sign an adoption contract which says, among other things, that if the adoption doesn't work out, the dog must come back to Little Big Dog Rescue.

More about this rescue

Little Big Dog Rescue is the little rescue with the big heart.
We are a 501c3 non-profit rescue that is committed to improve and save the lives of dogs through:

Rescue, Rehabilitation, Training, Adoption and Community Education

In January 2025, the rescue underwent a transition, redefining its mission to a different focus and locality. Little Big Dog Rescue relocated to the New River Valley in Christiansburg, Virginia and expanded from predominately a senior dog rescue to helping dogs of all ages in need as our resources allow.

LBDR aims to pull from local kill shelters and assist owner surrenders as space allows in our foster homes. Each dog will be vetted to include spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchipping, deworming, etc. and then spend quality time in a foster home so we may learn more about each dog's personality and needs for their future "furever" home success. We are committed to providing medical rehabilitation as well as some behavioral training whenever possible to further improve the quality of life each dog may have after being adopted. Additionally, LBDR hopes to give back to the community by offering education on various aspects of the privilege of dog ownership, including proper medical care, training needs, breed-specific needs, and so much more.
