My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Lucy was brought in by our Humane Law Enforcement team on November 21, 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Lucy, a Starbucks pup cup connoisseur and a total pro in the passenger seat! While she might play it a little cool when meeting new people, this sweet girl is a sucker for baby talk and will be your best friend the second you start the "who's a good girl" routine. Once she warms up, she's a total social butterfly who lives for neighborhood walks and soaking up all the attention she can get. Don't let the "senior" label fool you-Lucy has some serious engine power! Her foster says she has incredible stamina for an older gal and is a dream on a bike ride. She clearly knows the ropes, staying perfectly in line without darting off or getting under the wheels. She's the ultimate partner for an active adopter who wants a dog that can actually keep up. When she's finally ready to clock out for the day, Lucy is the undisputed queen of soft, fuzzy things. If there's a plush blanket or a cozy rug in the room, she will find it and claim it as her throne. If you are ready to welcome the most charming, bike-riding, blanket-hogging pup in town into your home, adopt Lucy today!

IN FOSTER: Lucy's foster is committed to helping them find a new family! To begin the adoption process, please reach out to the foster directly at: Annie.chris.shared@gmail.com.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
