Meet Waltz — a 38-pound poodle with the soul of a sweetheart, the nerves of a first-time ballroom dancer, and the fluff of a cloud that hasn’t quite figured out how legs work. He’s incredibly gentle, unbelievably sweet, and just needs someone patient enough to help him come out of his shell at his own slow-but-steady pace.
Waltz isn’t shut down; he’s more of a “I’d really prefer you not touch me yet, thank you kindly” kind of scared. He flinches more from uncertainty than fear, and you can practically see the little thought bubble over his head saying, “I want to trust you… just give me a second.” With kindness, predictability, and zero pressure, he has already shown tiny sparks of curiosity poking through the shy exterior.
He’s not house trained yet, but he’s smart, eager to learn, and will thrive with someone who uses calm guidance and consistency. Harsh reactions will only make him moonwalk away — but soft encouragement? That’s his language.
Waltz would make a wonderful companion to another calm, friendly dog. He really seems to take comfort in the presence of canine buddies and might even learn the ropes by following a confident furry friend around the house. A patient dog sibling could be the key to helping him blossom.
One of Waltz’s best traits? He barely barks. Truly — this boy is as quiet as a mouse wearing socks. And despite being unsure about touch and new people, he has shown absolutely zero signs of aggression. No growling, no snapping, no guarding — just gentle avoidance and his signature “nervous side-eye.”
With time, love, and a quiet home that understands slow progress is still progress, Waltz is going to turn into the sweetest, most devoted companion. He’s the kind of dog who will make you proud of every milestone — from the first tail wag to the first brave lean into your hand.
If you’re ready to help a shy but wonderful boy learn that the world is safe and humans can be trusted, Waltz is waiting to take his first confident steps toward forever… one tiny waltz at a time. 💛🐩

More about this rescue
CAMO Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that offers life, health, and a forever home. We specialize in dogs that other rescues can’t or won’t take due to fearful nature or medical needs. We primarily rescue ‘euthanasia listed’ animals that are in immediate danger of death. We provide shots, spay/neuter, microchip, foster homes, food, medical treatment and love to dogs that are abandoned, unwanted or otherwise in need. We never euthanize an animal to make room for another. In addition to caring for our dogs and finding the best possible home for them, we provide education to the community; encouraging and promoting responsible pet ownership. If needed, our rescue dogs are retrained to socialize in an adoptive loving family. We have had phenomenal success, and amazing support from our community. We believe that animals, as living creatures are entitled to a quality life, respect and compassion. Since humans have domesticated animals, we have a moral and ethical responsibility to care for them. We are partnered with many Shelters to help them reach the same goal.
