My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Barkley, the 6 month old German Shepherd prodigy with a goofy grin and brain that never stops going.

This silly, smart-as-a-whip youngster is the perfect mix of goofball energy and puzzle-solving genius. Barkley LIVES for treat puzzles, snuffle mats, and any game that makes his shepherd brain go "challenge accepted!" If it involves nose-to-the-ground searching, assessing, detecting and problem solving, Barkley is already 3 steps ahead of you, with his propeller tail.

When he's not conquering enrichment toys like a tiny professor, Barkley's all about fun - zoomies, chasing whatever you're willing to throw for him, and making you laugh with his adorable antics. He's eager to learn, eager to please, and eager to turn every day into an adventure that keeps his mind (and your heart) full. If you're looking for a bright, bouncy best friend who's as entertaining as he is clever, Barkley is ready to graduate straight into your home and your life.

More about this shelter

Founded in 1941 by the third female graduate from Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, SAVE is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit animal shelter dedicated to protecting the health and welfare of homeless companion animals in the greater Princeton area and beyond. Through six core programs of Rescue, Shelter, Health and Welfare, Spay/Neuter, Foster and Adoption.

The SAVE shelter facility has the capacity to house upwards of 100 animals at a time (approximately 75 cats and 25 dogs). The shelter exceeds no-kill benchmark standards and ensures that adoptable animals facing adversity are given a lifeline, a chance to flourish, and the promise of a better tomorrow.
