My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Smidget is a stunning black cat with mesmerizing honey brown eyes that will steal your heart in an instant. He’s a truly special boy with a charming head tilt caused by a neurological condition, but don’t worry, it doesn’t slow him down one bit! Smidget is an absolute lovebug who adores attention and isn’t shy about asking for it. His sweet, vocal nature makes it clear: he loves being loved!

Smidget had a rough start at the shelter, getting sick shortly after arriving, but he bounced back quickly with incredible resilience. He does require a diet that supports kidney function and has a permanently adorable head tilt.

Now, he’s ready to find a forever home where he can snuggle up with someone special. Due to his needs, Smidget will likely need to be the only cat in the home. In return, he promises endless affection, cozy cuddles, and a lifetime of loyal companionship.

If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind best friend, Smidget is ready and waiting to meet you!

Our cat adoption fee is $110 and includes their spay/neuter surgery, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations, and preventatives. You can find our adoption questionnaire at agcshelter.org/adopt-1 or you can stop by to see us Tuesday-Saturday from 1PM-4PM.

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

We have a short questionnaire that can be filled out before or during the meet and greet. We do not use the questionnaire to "approve".

2.

Interview

We utilize conversational adoption. This may happen during the meet and greet or via phone before a meet and greet.

3.

Meet the Pet

4.

Pay Fee

Our cat adoption fee is $110, $150 if you adopt a pair, and our dog adoption fee is $150.

5.

Sign Adoption Contract

6.

Take the Pet Home

You can bring your own carrier or we can provide a cardboard carrier for an additional $5.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process is meant to reduce barriers to adoption. We have a simple questionnaire that does not determine if the adopter is "approved" or "denied" and then we have a conversation about their lifestyle, home environment, and what they are looking for in a pet.

Go meet their pets

Come meet our cats and dogs Tuesday through Friday from 1pm to 4pm in our open-concept adoption space! Here, you can sit and spend time with our kitties in a relaxed environment to get to know each personality. We have a meet and greet room for our doggies, so you can spend time with them in a larger space or walk with them outside!
