The Abominable Snowman came to ACCT Philly on 12/06/2025 after being found roaming an abandoned lot near 16th and Washington. Despite arriving with some cuts on his face and clearly feeling unsure of his surroundings, he was friendly with the finder and allowed himself to be safely brought in on a rope.
This sweet, gentle boy has been showing us more of his soft personality each day. He presents calmly in his kennel, enjoys treats, and warms up beautifully once he feels comfortable. Outside, he’s enthusiastic and strong on leash, eager to explore the world around him. With people, he’s a sensitive soul who appreciates slow introductions, gentle petting, and the chance to build trust at his own pace. Volunteers describe him as affectionate, wiggly, and full of quiet charm.
He is recovering well from his recent neuter surgery and continues showing us what a truly good dog he is. With patience, kindness, and consistency, The Abominable Snowman will undoubtedly blossom into a loyal and loving companion.

Meet The Abominable Snowman ❄️💙
(…though between us, he’s pretty sure someone mixed him up with another dog, because he’s definitely more of a house hippo than a monster 😉)
This goofy boy has the sweetest face, the gentlest demeanor, and a personality that’s impossible not to fall in love with. He’s friendly with everyone he meets and is happiest enjoying the simple things in life — a tasty treat, some good snuggles, and a warm spot next to his human.
The Abominable Snowman is pure joy wrapped in a chunky, lovable package. He’s easygoing, affectionate, and truly one of the best boys around.
If you’re looking for a soft soul with a silly name and a giant heart, this “snowman” is ready to melt into your arms. 🐾💙
12/09/2025 per volunteer behavioral eval:
Kennel Presentation: Calm when I first approached the kennel with soft eyes. Took a hot dog nicely through the door. Once he saw the leash, he got more excited with tail wags and wiggly body and tried to push out (he's strong).
Leash Skills: Easy to leash him fairly easily on the second attempt. He pulled hard throughout the kennels and once outside - very strong on leash. He peed as soon as we got outside. Continued to pull hard after relieving himself.
Sociability: Not very social at first, sniffing around eval room without approaching me. Eventually he came over for sniffs and allowed some pets on the head and back. He gave a few lip licks so I stopped, after which he continued soliciting more pets/attention. Took hot dog very gently from an open palm.
Play: N/A - no interest in toys
Dog Interaction: N/A
Return to Kennel: Needed strong leash pressure and a step in to return
Color Level: Blue
Recommendations and considerations: Very strong on leash
