🔔✨ Meet Zuzu ✨🔔

Just like her namesake from It’s a Wonderful Life, this sweet girl is pure magic in a small package.

Zuzu is about 1 year old and a Chihuahua/Boxer mix who came to us from the same situation as several other dogs. She was named after the kind, gentle little girl from the movie — and it fits her perfectly. She’s soft, quiet, and full of that delicate sweetness people don’t forget.

Zuzu is a shy girl at first, but with a little patience and gentle love, she starts to bloom — just like Zuzu’s petals. Once she feels safe, she turns into the ultimate lap warmer, happiest curled up close, soaking in all the warmth and love she can get.

They say every time a bell rings, an angel gets their wings… and honestly, Zuzu feels like one of those little angels just waiting to find her way home for the holidays. 🔔🪽

Additional adoption info

Our adoption fees for dogs includes spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccines, de-wormer, flea and tick prevention, heart worm prevention, heart worm tested, and microchip registration.

Adult Dogs: $200
Puppies: $225

Cat adoption fees include spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccines, de-wormer, FIV/FeLV testing, flea and tick prevention, and microchip registration.

Adult Cats: $75 (or $125 for a pair)
Kittens: $90 (or $150 for a pair)

Since 1979, the Effingham County Humane Society has been committed to serving Effingham County, IL and the surrounding area. We are located in the former Funkhouser School, and our non-profit shelter is sustained by volunteers, fundraising, contributions, and adoption fees.

The goal of the Effingham County Humane Society is to reduce animal suffering in our county through educating and promoting responsible pet ownership, including spaying/neutering pets, appropriate pet identification, proper pet care, and the quality adoption of homeless pets.
