My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Canela came to the shelter alongside her friend Kiwi (A051883) after their owner sadly passed away, and she’s been winning hearts ever since. This medium sized sweetheart is great on a leash and very easy to handle, making outings with her a breeze. She’s happy to amuse herself, but she’s also incredibly friendly and always ready to reconnect with you.

Canela knows how to sit on command and absolutely loves treats, which she takes gently from your hand (Though fair warning - if there’s a snack within reach, she may try to help herself!). She’s not much interested in toys, but she doesn’t need them - affection is her favorite reward.

With her lower energy level and calm, gentle nature, Canela is perfectly content to stay right by your side for as long as you’ll pet her. If you’re looking for a loving, easygoing cuddle buddy, check out Canela!

More about this shelter

We are an open admission, municipal shelter serving the unincorporated area of Fort Bend County, TX.

We are the county's rabies control authority as well as being their animal shelter. On average, we take in approximately 4,000-5,000 pets per year.

The staff at FBCAS is small but each and every one of us is dedicated to making the stay of the pets in our care as comfortable as possible. Our hearts are in this and with every pet that crosses our threshold.

We are part of the amazing Fort Bend County community and we are always striving to work with our community people and partners to make our shelter the best it can be.

We can always use new volunteers to help us keep our pets happy and healthy while they wait for their forever home.

We hope that you will find your new love at our shelter - we always have so many to choose from!
