My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Lover Boy was brought in by a community member on October 22, 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Lover Boy - and yes, the name says it all! This charismatic gentleman is a certified heart-stealer with enough charm to fill a room (and then some). He's outgoing, friendly, and loves to strut his stuff - don't be surprised if he decides your bed is the perfect vantage point for house exploration. Lover Boy is currently rocking a "healing chic" look while being treated for a skin infection, and he has a fractured canine that will require a sedated dental follow-up with your veterinarian. Don't worry, though - he's handling everything like the true heartthrob he is, flashing his irresistible purrs all the way. He's also currently receiving a special hydrolyzed diet to help manage allergy and itch symptoms. This prescription (or a similar) diet will likely need to continue for life, and he cannot receive any treats that aren't approved by a veterinarian. This suave fellow enjoys attention - on his terms. Sometimes his excitement gets the better of him, so it's best to let him set the pace for pets and snuggles. Heads up: Lover Boy is a serial litter box connoisseur, so multiple large boxes around the home are a must. Confident, clever, and affectionate, Lover Boy is ready to explore his new kingdom - and maybe steal a snuggle or two along the way. Don't forget a large cat carrier for a smooth, safe ride home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
