My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

While we don’t know much about 1 year old Bell's past except that she was found as a stray in PG County, her scars tell us that she probably didn’t get the best start. Nevertheless, Bell has not let that stop her! She is sure to greet you with kisses and lots of happy tail wags. She loves to play when she gets the chance and loves to have her zoomie hops (she runs and hops with joy). But most all of all, she matches the energy of the humans around her. Washing dishes, cooking dinner, or working from home? She’ll patiently sit beside you or find a comfy spot to chill until you’re ready to snuggle on the couch. She weighs 50 pounds.

Bell can be a bit shy at first when meeting people but once she realizes they’re friendly, her tail is off to the races! She is potty-trained and walks beautifully on a leash. She’s still trying to figure out if she likes car rides but she doesn’t complain! She can be a little vocal in her kennel but that’s only to let you know that she has fomo when she hears you having fun without her but once the house is quiet, she is too. And in the mornings, she’ll let you sleep in for a bit and then she’ll kindly let you know she’s ready to get up. Bell is a true lover girl at heart.

If you’re looking for your new best friend, look no further!

Go meet their pets

We are a rescue that is dependent on volunteers as we do not have a physical building. We rent space at a kennel in Upperco, Md. If you would like to meet one of our dogs please contact us to make arrangements. Thanks!

More about this rescue

Adopt a Homeless Animal Rescue (AAHA) is a nonprofit dedicated to rescuing and assisting animals in crisis. We actively combat animal cruelty in any form.

We have a particular commitment to pit bulls and aim to raise awareness about the breed, help those in need, and educate the public:
•We seek to promote this lovely yet unfairly maligned breed as the sweet, intelligent, affectionate, and people-oriented dogs they are.
•We assume stewardship over their well-being and strive to make this world a better place for them.
•We serve as a resource and/or liaison for shelters, individuals, and the community at large, advocating for any animal in harm's way.
•We also function in an advisory role for private citizens who seek assistance and guidance in better caring for their pets.

We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Please help us help the animals!
