My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Do you like your dogs as smart as they are good looking? Then you are in the right place! Let me introduce you to Gus! The fastest way to get to see just how amazing he is would be to watch his video (here’s the link- https://youtu.be/bg2HqQ49M8g) You will get a chance to see him show off some of the commands he knows, be his goofy, happy self, and just be in general the best boy!

Gus is a possibly a Malinois/German Shepherd mix, estimated to be 2 years old, and weighing 43 lbs. Given he is a rescue we cannot guarantee breed or age but tell me you don’t see the resemblance. Let's circle back to his weight as well- 43 lbs! He is practically built like a sports car- sleek and light- better for aerodynamics.

This boy has been so fortunate to be waiting for his adoption day in a loving foster home. He is soaking it up too! His fosters have shared that Gus came to them with his heart wide-open and ready for love, eager to make that loving-connection.They praise him on so many levels, and repeatedly mention how smart and affectionate he is. While in his foster home he was been learning/ practicing his best-boy manners, from house training to walking like a gentleman on-leash, he gets gold-stars across the board. He has shown that he is incredibly responsive to structure and consistency, with a real love for training. You can see it though, he locks eyes and there is no doubt you have his full attention. .

Gus has lived in an apartment and does well keeping it mellow when he is inside, but his true happy place is outside- exploring, sniffing, and stretching his legs. He would ove a home with a yard or an active person to go on adventures with but apartment life suits him well as long as he gets playtime, walks, and mental enrichments like puzzles.. His fosters shared that he was a big hit recently with a group of 5-10 year old kids and having seen him with kids myself I will tell you- kids LOVE him! He has that fun, slightly older cousin energy, the one that knows all the best tricks and can make you laugh with a look. The simple fact that Gus can catch a ball or toy IN THE AIR wins kids over every single time! He approaches kids with a respectful calmness but once they invite him to play he is all in as one of the gang. Everytime I have been with Gus and he has met or hung out with kids I have been so impressed with him and giggles are a given!

With dogs Gus has a similar, fun-loving and friendly approach. It may not be for everydog but equally bouncy, happy dogs love Gus and his playstyle. His energy isn't for older dogs though he does respect when a dog is not interested in playing but he would love a home with a light hearted playmate but could be happy as your one and only. We understand that lot’s of people are looking for a one and only dog but worry they won’t be happy without a buddy. I’m here to assure you- Gus won’t mind at all! He loves a good game of chase or a little wrestling moment but it isn’t the only thing that makes him happy. If being considered as a +1, Gus does best with an easy-going dogs who likes to play but also loves taking breaks. No matter the details, Gus will thrive in a home that can offer him affection, a few good toys, and outlets for his energy. He’s not a 100% couch potato, not until he has had the chance to move his body or work his brain, then he is all love and couch cuddles- classic working-dog type.

I absolutely adore Gus! Having spent time in our front office showed off how quiet he is, unless you ask for a speak- then you get to hear his beautiful bark! No matter the chaos or other dogs barking outside or next to him, he remains calm and quiet. He is both house and crate trained and is happy to curl up and nap or enjoy a toy or treat to pass the time while you work or make phone calls. This boy is all heart and he is looking for someone to be his person and return that adoration. Is that you? If it is you have great taste and a good eye for a good dog! He is an amazing dog and he can be YOUR amazing dog! Smart, loyal, and adventure ready on top of everything else! Plus, he is sooo handsome!

https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success.

Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!

Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond.

Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.

The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.
While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs.

It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS:

Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission!
