My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pepper will bring the flavor if you bring the family…
wait-if you’ll BE his family!
Pepper is estimated to be 1.5 years old, weighs in at a perfect 42 lbs, and brings the best kind of energy-friendly, balanced, and full of quiet sweetness. He’s living in a loving foster home with an 8-year-old child, another foster dog, and free-roaming indoor/outdoor cats, and he has been nothing short of a gem. Take a look at Pepper then come back to read more!

Pepper’s foster describes him as “the sweetest” and a true cuddle bug. He absolutely adores their daughter and follows her around the house like her loyal little shadow. “I am his second choice,” his foster jokes, “and my husband is probably last unless he has treats.”

He is a calm, low-energy soul who loves to curl up in a cozy corner or nestle into a pillow-filled nook. His foster says, “He’s quiet, gentle, and really just likes to chill on the couch or find a comfy spot in my office when I work from home.”
Pepper enjoys meal times and eats his breakfast in the kitchen with the morning bustle- breakfast, coffee, backpacks, the whole routine. His confidence is beautiful.
Pepper is dog-social and plays wonderfully with his foster dog. His style is gentle and balanced-playful but never chaotic, with respectful energy and a great sense of doggie manners. He shares beds, shares treats, and is the definition of an easy housemate.

Pepper met our house cat like a gentleman and in the foster home, though he lives with cats, they are mostly separated, while the cats come and go as they please. Pepper has shown no negative behavior-just peaceful coexistence and curiosity. A slow intro with dog-savvy cats should work well.

At home, Pepper is… well, perfect.
He is:
Potty trained
Non-destructive
A quiet, peaceful presence
Trusted to free-roam with another dog while his foster runs errands
A lover of comfy corners and snuggly spots
His foster shared, “He has not destroyed anything. He’s a low-energy cuddle bug. Really no trouble at all.”

At night, Pepper sleeps in a kennel but he often falls asleep in his favorite spot on the couch, so sometimes his foster carries him to bed and once inside his crate, he settles with zero fuss.
Pepper is still learning about the big wide world and can be overwhelmed when in busy areas with busy streets and lots of cars. He is just a bit unsure and still prefers backyard playtime over front-yard neighborhood walks. His foster says, “He’s perfectly content being a homebody and playing in the backyard. He really has no pent-up energy.”
Pepper is starting short walks soon, and with his gentle nature and treat motivation, he’ll continue growing at his own sweet pace. He’s eager to please and soft as they come.

He knows his basic skills including sit, and he is continuously getting more comfortable with new environments. He is so willing, and his foster family praises him for shining so brightly already. If you're looking for a gentle, social, low-energy cuddle buddy with a young-dog sparkle and the softest personality… Pepper might just be your perfect match.
He is a lot of loving and ready to bring his peaceful sweetness into a home that cherishes the calm, cozy moments of life with a dog by their side.

At our 2 acre Texas based property, we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group training and socialization play groups helping them stay confident, well rounded, and adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers are dedicated to each dog’s growth and we enjoy seeing their progress!

We go above and beyond to ensure every animal receives exceptional care. Veterinarians consistently praise our medical standards. From routine care to advanced treatments, each dog receives personalized attention. Hard costs for a healthy dog range from $804-$920; heartworm-positive dogs or those needing specialized care can exceed $2,000+. Adoption fees help cover a portion of these expenses, but without government funding, we rely on fundraising to bridge the gap—ranging from $100–$1,000+ per dog.

Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.
