My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi!  My name is JD and I am looking for a forever home.  I was picked up by a nice lady after being seen roaming a neighborhood for a couple of weeks and folks were getting worried I was going to get hit by a car or worse.  She contacted a small local rescue who said they would sponsor me and placed me in a Dog Prison Program where I started learning lots of good stuff about being a good boy.  A volunteer with that rescue then contacted BCAA to see if they could help me and they said yes!  I am a light buff colored yellow lab and I'm a big boy at 82lbs.  Since I'm only about a year old, I may get a little bigger but the vet feels like I'm at the top of my weight now.  Don't mind my serious face in my pictures as I'm really a super happy boy who enjoys life.  I love people and getting attention from them, and I will sit on a dime for a treat and am super smart.  I have gotten along with the other dogs I have met and so far haven't even bothered those things called cats.  I have done really well in my crate without any accidents, barking or tearing up of any bedding, but I would really prefer to be out and about with you.  I am usually pretty good on leash but may need some reinforcement as I do pull a little when I first get out in my excitement on possibly going on an adventure.  If you would like to meet me, please fill out an application which can be found at www.bcaaofnj.org.

Submitting an application is always our first step - it's free to apply! bcaaofnj.org

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process starts with the applicant filling out an adoption application for the pet they are interested in. When they have completed and submitted the application, the screening process is started, which consists of a vet check, phone interview and home visit. Once all the steps are completed, we determine, by our findings, if they are approved, and if so, then they are allowed to adopt from our organization. The final step is they must complete the adoption contract, along with the donation for the animal, which goes into our medical fund to defray their medical costs. All of our animals are spayed and neutered, up to date on all their shots, including rabies, they are parasite free and on heartworm preventative.
