Meet Bellini
Bellini is a 5 month old Maltipoo who joined our rescue with his sister, Mimosa, after being part of an accidental litter. He weighs about 10 lbs and is equal parts adorable, clever, and endlessly entertaining. Bellini is a young pup with a big personality, a growing set of skills, and a natural curiosity about the world around him.
Daily Routine
Bellini starts his morning between 7:00 and 8:00 a.m., waking up slowly with long stretches and a few minutes of relaxed lounging in his crate. After a quick potty break, he has breakfast— half served on a lick mat to slow down his enthusiastic eating, and the rest used for training. Bellini already knows sit, down, paw, place, spin, and an endearing “beep beep,” which means back up.
He takes another potty break between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., depending on when he last ate. Evenings include a longer walk between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m., followed by dinner, which his foster turns into a sniff-and-find kibble game. Throughout the day, he gets small potty breaks based on how much he has eaten or had to drink.
Personality
On his first day, Bellini was quiet as he took in his new environment, but he was never shy or fearful. His natural confidence emerged quickly—he seems to know he’s cute, and he carries himself like it. He enjoys snuggles when he’s in the mood but is generally more curious and adventurous than cuddly.
On walks, he is wary of large or loud moving vehicles but happily sniffs every parked car. He sometimes barks at tiny low bushes, possibly mistaking them for something mysterious. He hasn’t barked at other dogs and usually just shows interest. Squirrels and birds, however, receive full attention, and he has occasionally barked at people too. Indoors, he’s discovered that fish are surprisingly amusing and worth barking at.
Social Skills
Bellini lives in a home without other dogs or cats, but he does bark at his foster’s fish when he notices them. He hasn’t met children yet. His overall temperament suggests he may do fine with proper introductions and continued positive experiences.
Energy & Playfulness
Bellini is very food motivated and eager to please, which makes training fun and rewarding. He is curious about everything and gets bursts of energy after walks—especially his “post-poop zoomies.” With treats in hand, he is focused, enthusiastic, and ready to learn.
Leash Walking
Leash walking started off as a confusing experience for Bellini, followed by a zigzag phase. Now, he walks much more smoothly and even pauses to wait if his foster lags behind. He shows interest in other dogs but saves his barks for squirrels, birds, and the occasional person.
Housetraining & Crate Training
Bellini is still learning potty training. His foster takes him out frequently on a schedule. Crate training is underway— he prefers small spaces and cool surfaces when he sleeps.
Behaviors
Bellini is a chewer and still teething, so appropriate chew toys are important. He does not dig. He generally doesn’t bark when someone enters the home or when the doorbell rings, unless he’s startled awake from a nap. He has discovered his “big boy bark,” which he uses on fish and on nighttime walks when the world looks extra mysterious.
What Makes Bellini Special
Bellini is undeniably adorable, but it’s his unique little imperfections that make him unforgettable. He has a tiny bald pink patch on his snout with markings that resemble a miniature cow. He enjoys being brushed—unless you dare tug too hard on a knot—and loves napping in the laundry room. His personality is quirky, funny, and full of charm.
Bellini is sweet, smart, silly, and ready for a home that will appreciate his personality as much as his cuteness.
