My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
This pet was brought in by a community member on December 09, 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Regina, an 8-year-old survivor with a gentle spirit and a heart full of resilience. Regina spent years living as a friendly stray after being rescued and nursed back to health from a serious injury. Despite the hardships she's faced-including being unable to be caught after someone harmed her-she has remained trusting enough to accept help when she truly needed it. Now safe in our care, Regina is ready for a comfortable, loving home where she can finally enjoy the peace she has always deserved. Regina is a calm, quiet girl who appreciates soft voices, slow movements, and cozy resting spots. She no longer has teeth, so she'll thrive on a wet-food-only diet, which she eats happily. Though her early life was tough, her personality is anything but-she is gentle, patient, and surprisingly affectionate once she knows she's safe. She's the kind of cat who finds joy in simple comforts and bonds deeply with the people who show her kindness. She's looking for a compassionate adopter willing to support her medical needs and give her a soft, stable home for the rest of her life. If you're hoping to make a meaningful difference for a cat who has survived so much, sweet Regina will return your love tenfold.

At SDHS:

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
