My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Hippo! 🐾🤍

Hippo is an adorable almost-6-year-old terrier mix with a soft white and grey coat and the sweetest, most gentle expression. Around 50 lbs of pure love, she’s a very nice girl who just wants to feel safe and understood.

Shelter life is overwhelming for her, and she’s a bit scared in this environment — but with kindness, patience, and a calm home, Hippo will truly blossom. Underneath her worry is a super cute, tender-hearted pup who’s longing for her person.

If you’re looking to give a shy, sweet, and incredibly lovable girl a second chance, Hippo is ready to reward you with trust, loyalty, and a lifetime of quiet affection. 🩶

More about this shelter

The Gulf Coast Humane Society is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) animal welfare organization dedicated to serving the animals and community of Southwest Florida. We receive no federal, state, or county funding, nor do we receive financial support from the Humane Society of the United States. Instead, our lifesaving work is made possible through the generosity of individual donations, grants, bequests, and community fundraising efforts.

As a no kill shelter, Gulf Coast Humane Society is committed to providing compassionate care for unwanted, neglected, and abandoned animals. We never euthanize due to space constraints or the length of time an animal has been in our care. Our mission is to give every animal the second chance they deserve in a safe and loving environment.
