My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Randie is living in a foster home. Please submit an application from our website and/or email dogs@heartlandanimalshelter.org to learn if you are a match!

We spotted Randie and her big, beautiful smile down at Chicago Animal Care and Control a few days before Thanksgiving. We were able to bring her to Heartland in time to celebrate the holiday with us (of course all our dogs got a special turkey dinner that night!), and the very next day she was scooped up by her wonderful foster family. After getting over a little cold, decompressing on a comfy couch, and getting spayed- she is finally making her debut on our adoptable dogs page. We do not expect you will see her up there for long!

Randie's foster family consists of two adults, two children aged 2 and 4, and one big dog. Randie had an accident here and there the first couple of days, but once everyone got into a routine she has not had a single accident since day two! Randie will go potty both in the yard and on walks. Randie is crate trained, and comfortable enough in her crate to rest in there during the day even when her foster family is home. She sleeps in there at night, and has done well in there during the day when needed (the longest she has been left is four hours).

In the home, Randie is a delight! Her foster mom says that "she is super sweet with the kids. She loves to cuddle up with both kids and lets them lay on her. She will play with them if they engage with her." With their dog, she was timid at first but then when she starts her little bunny hop dance you know she is ready for playtime! Randie loves all manner of toys; she likes to play with her stuffies and doesn't ever destroy anything.

Her fosters write, "If you’re looking for a playful perfectly sized dog that will cuddle you and ask for pets throughout the day, Randie is your girl. She sometimes starts out slow and then shows her playful side with little bursts of energy. She loves to be by people and snuggle up next to you at any moment. She is absolutely wonderful with kids of all ages and would be the best addition to any family."

I mean... Randie sounds pretty perfect, right?!?
You could be the lucky one that gets to take her home! Treat yourself to the gift of Randie and you will not be sorry!

Randie’s adoption fee is $300. This animal is spayed, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.
