My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hunter is a gentle boy. At first, he’s quite shy, and likes to take his time getting to know new people and environments. Once he feels safe, you’ll see his real personality come through: sweet, affectionate, and genuinely easy to love. He’s got a very gentle way about him. There isn’t a single mean bone in this cat’s body. Even when he’s unsure, he stays soft and patient. And when he finally warms up, you’ll get his little bursts of chattiness, soft meows, tiny chirps, and the occasional “conversation” when he wants attention or is excited to see you.

Hunter enjoys playtime just as much as quiet moments. At night, he likes to sleep curled up beside you, sometimes even on your leg, and he settles in with a calm trust that feels really special. He and his mom, Licorice, rely on each other, comfort each other, and truly belong as a pair. If you’re looking for a gentle, affectionate cat who blossoms beautifully with a bit of patience, Hunter will absolutely steal your heart.

1.
Submit Application

Before submitting an application, we ask that you review the information on cat care and our policies here: https://www.vokra.ca/adopt

2.
Interview

Our adoption counsellors focus on educating our adopters on cat care. Once approved, they use a matching process to find your perfect pet.

3.
Meet the Pet

When you find a kitty you like, you will arrange an appointment with the foster home - where the kitty feels most comfortable and confident.

4.
Sign Adoption Contract

Our adoptions contract process includes reviewing critical cat care information and providing contacts for post-adoption advice.

5.
Take the Pet Home

Woo hoo! You will be expected to take the kitty to a free post-adoption vet check within 2 weeks, and follow up on any required vet care.

Additional adoption info

Each year more than 1,400 cats and kittens are adopted through VOKRA. We're always here after the adoption if you need ongoing advice.

Response times can vary, depending on the time of year and available volunteer resources. Applications and help requests for non-emergency issues will usually receive a response in 1-3 days.
