Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Luke is a gentle, sensitive young pup who is still learning about the big world around him. He’s naturally timid and takes his time warming up, but once he feels safe, you’ll see his playful, curious side shine through. Luke is looking for a patient adopter who understands that confidence is built, not rushed — and he’s well worth the investment.
Dog Manners
Luke is very shy when first meeting new dogs and needs slow, structured introductions. He’s had a couple of successful playdates with friendly 15–40 lb dogs, but he has also struggled with moments of overstimulation and confusion. He can get overwhelmed and still learning how to manage big feelings during play. With time, guidance, and the right dog companion, he can absolutely continue improving.
He enjoys play (energy level about 3/5) but is also content entertaining himself with toys. He does recognize when another dog needs a break. On leash, he’s unphased by passing dogs.
Cats
Luke hasn’t been tested with cats.
Kids
Luke has lived with kids from ages 5–19 and does well with them. He may be shy at first but warms up and will even play once he trusts them. No concerns noted.
Leash Walking
Luke is a nervous leash walker right now and sometimes refuses to walk — but he’s working on it. A confident dog in the home, plus patient encouragement, will help him continue making progress.
House & Crate Training
Luke is about 90% house-trained and does wonderfully in a crate. He’s crated when left alone (3–4 hours) and at night, especially because he is still teething and can be mischievous with household items.
Luke has a moderate to moderately high energy level. He’ll thrive with daily playtime and mental stimulation but doesn’t need to be constantly on the go.
Curious | Playful | Smart | Silly | Independent
Luke loves toys and can entertain himself for long stretches. He isn’t a cuddly dog (at least not yet), but he shows affection in his own subtle ways. With strangers he may bark or keep his distance at first, but he’s learning that people can be safe. He rides great in the car and has no issues with stairs.
Luke is still learning basic obedience and proper play/engagement with other dogs. His forever family should be ready to continue confidence-building, impulse control, and supporting him through moments of overstimulation.
Fun Facts
He LOVES toys — all kinds.
He looks to other dogs for cues, stability, and guidance.
Watching him open up is one of the most rewarding things you’ll experience.
Ideal Home
Luke will thrive in a patient, loving home that understands shy dogs. He should have another calm, confident dog in the home — he truly blossoms with canine companionship. His perfect family will guide him gently through each new stage, celebrate his progress, and give him the support he needs to grow into the wonderful dog he’s meant to be.
