My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Tootie was brought in by a community member on December 10, 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Tootie plays hard and naps harder! She's a fun, bouncy puppy with a big personality-and a very active mouth, because... puppy. Tootie will need consistent, positive-reinforcement (R+) training to help her learn that toys are for playing, hands are not. She's learning that when her mouth touches people, all the fun stops-play pauses and only starts again when she's using appropriate toys. A puppy-proofed home with lots of great chew items is a must to help Tootie make good choices. Because Tootie is still in her mouthy phase, her ideal home has everyone over 10 years old, with children supervised during interactions and able to follow parental coaching. If you're ready for a little Toot! Toot! of playful energy followed by cozy nap time, Tootie might be your girl.

At SDHS:
Tootie has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. She is now ready for her new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
