My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Estrella was brought in by her previous owner on December 16th, 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Say hello to Estrella! With her soulful eyes and happy spirit, Estrella is the kind of pup who steals your heart completely. She might be a little shy at first, preferring to observe the world from a safe corner - but don't be fooled. Underneath that shy exterior is a total lovebug just waiting to shine. Once she feels comfortable and secure, Estrella blossoms into a sweet, active companion who'll nuzzle her way into your life (and maybe your lap). Her previous owner reported she made the best running buddy and already knows basic commands like "sit," shake" and "down." Estrella prefers not to share her favorite things like toys and food, so its important to manage this through trade outs and feeding her in a private area. She's looking for a calm, patient home without children under the age of 10 - somewhere she can settle in and build trust at her own pace. Come meet Estrella today - just don't forget a leash and collar to bring this sweet gal home.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
