Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Avon — A Gentle & Loving Jindo Mix Looking for Her Forever Home

Name: Avon

Age: 3 years

Sex: Spayed Female

Breed: Jindo Mix

Color: Ivory

Weight: 9 kg

Height: 43 cm (shoulder height)

Rescue Story

Avon was found living on a 1-meter chain at a junkyard, surviving on food scraps. The owner planned to sell the dogs to a meat market. Although Avon and several other dogs were surrendered, they were sent to a city shelter.

While at the shelter, Avon was pregnant and gave birth to four puppies. She was rescued again on December 28, 2023, and all of her puppies have since found loving homes. Avon has been living in a foster home since May 24, 2025, where she has been thriving for the past 7 months — now it’s her turn to find a forever family

Personality with People

Avon is extremely affectionate and people-oriented. She happily approaches both familiar people and strangers, leans in for pets, and allows handling with ease. She does very well with children under 13 and is comfortable being gently lifted. Even with people she has just met, Avon often rolls over to show her belly — a true sign of trust and sweetness

Socialization with Other Dogs

Avon is friendly with both familiar and unfamiliar dogs and often initiates polite greetings and play. She is especially comfortable with dogs of similar size or smaller and tends to avoid conflict, even if another dog behaves rudely.

On walks, she can become overly excited when meeting dog friends and may pull toward them — in these moments, calm but firm guidance from her handler works best. At dog parks, Avon is polite and social but often prefers to explore and sniff on her own. When she meets a well-matched friend, she plays happily and energetically.

Cats

When Avon sees cats during walks, she watches them with curiosity but follows her handler calmly when guided.

Energy Level

Avon has a moderate energy level. She enjoys outdoor activities and walks, but once back home, she relaxes easily. Indoors, she loves resting and receiving affection from her people, while outdoors she becomes curious and engaged with her surroundings

Walking & Leash Skills

She does pull on the leash at times but generally follows her handler well. Avon truly loves going for walks and especially enjoys sniffing and exploring her environment.

Other Behaviors & Habits

• No food guarding with people or other dogs

• Rarely barks — may make a soft, happy whine when excited to see people

• May bark back briefly if another dog barks during walks

• Gets in and out of the car on her own

• 100% outdoor potty trained

• Dislikes baths but tolerates them well with gentle handling

• Not a fan of tooth brushing — but loves chicken-flavored toothpaste

Avon is a gentle, affectionate, and resilient dog who has overcome so much. She would make a wonderful companion for a family looking for a loving, well-balanced dog with a soft heart

More about this rescue

Adopt Korean Rescue is a volunteer-based federally registered not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping homeless and unwanted dogs in South Korea find a new home in Canada.

We love Korean dogs. Many of them live in chains, give birth on the side of the road, or wander around with their pups. Some of them get caught and end up at dog meat farms or high-kill shelters in South Korea. They luckily meet us just before euthanasia or after many years of living in dog meat farms. We exist to hold their paws and help them find a forever home in Canada full of joy and happiness.

Our dog rescue work depends on our flight volunteers. They help us safely bring our dogs from Korea to Vancouver or Toronto airports, where the dogs will find loving forever or foster homes.
