My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet April — the happiest little heart-stealer around!

At less han one year old, April is all puppy sunshine and snuggles! She’s a curious, gentle girl who loves exploring, playing with toys, and curling up for cuddles after a fun day. April was born with a tiny heart defect (a congenital ventricular septal defect, or VSD), but you’d never guess it from the way she zooms, wiggles, and loves her people.

 A Little About Her Heart:
April’s VSD is a lifelong condition, meaning her heart just needs a bit of extra love and regular checkups with a cardiologist as she grows. She’s not showing any symptoms and feels amazing every day! Because anesthesia can be a little risky for her, she hasn’t been spayed yet — any future procedures would just need to be done carefully by a vet who knows about cardiac cases.

 Her Dream Family:

  • Someone who’ll love her silly puppy antics and be ready to handle her extra-special care.

  • A family who sees her first and foremost as the sweet, snuggly, toy-chasing pup she is.

  • A home full of love, patience, and maybe a cozy blanket or two!

April may have a special heart, but it’s bursting with love! She’s ready to find her forever family — the one who’ll see how perfect she is, inside and out. Could that be you?

Additional adoption info

All of our dogs and cats come spayed/neutered and vaccinated! Some of the pups will only have their first round of shots and may need rabies if they are under 3 months old. But other than that, these babies come ready to go! Our adoption fees vary, please inquire about each dog's individual fees. We do have cats and kittens available from time to time, so please inquire if you are looking for a feline pal! With their vetting, flights and care, we only ask for the adoption donation to help offset costs and make sure our adopters are serious. We love our rescues like we love our family. They mean the world to us and we just want to see them in good loving homes! And please check back as we are always adding new rescues to this page.

More about this rescue

We approach each every situation with an open mind. We work to build respect and trust with the partners, communities and countries we work in. With their acceptance, we build a plan together to meet the most pressing issues. We listen, learn and solve the needs together. We look for solutions that are integrated, scale-able, and sustainable. At Compassion Kind, we work with governments, institutions, local leaders, civil society organizations, foundations and businesses around the world to ensure that the most vulnerable beings are heard, and that they get the assistance they need to sustain from within the communities. Our teams and partners advocate for capacity building training and grass roots techniques so we make a lasting impact, create measurable change and operate as efficiently as possible.
