My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

~ Meet Daisy

Daisy arrived with a 30lb dog named Zoe (19500) and try as we did, we could not find a home to take both together. Thankfully they seemed to be independent spirits, so two volunteers each took one dog home and they are now loving their new foster homes with companionship from the people and their resident dogs.

Daisy is the sweetest land seal you could ever meet. She fit right into a single story home with a cattle dog (with a strong personality), and an aloof shepherd mix. She likes being near her people, and her dog friends. Working in the kitchen? She would love to park and observe if that's ok. Something have your dogs in a ker fluffer? Daisy's going to take the high road and steer away, she does not like conflict. She never been known to bark. Her sweet affectionate and gentle nature will make her a wonderful fit in many homes, with a range of human and animal friends of all ages. Her advocates at Classic Canines are getting Daisy a comprehensive exam and she's already working on her "New Year, New You" weight goals.

Additional adoption info

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day!
For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites.
For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

Adoption Fees:
$80 cats up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 kittens up to 6 months
$120 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older

More about this shelter

Austin Animal Center is the largest open-intake animal shelter in central Texas and we work very hard to try to save 90% or more of the thousands of animals we shelter every year. We always need volunteers and both monetary and in-kind donations to help us in our sheltering and prevention activities. Visit our website to find out how you can help!
