My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Macie is the definition of good-natured. She’s still got that puppy sparkle in her soul — playful, bouncy, and full of joy — but everything she does comes with sweetness and love.

She’s currently in foster care working on her manners (like leash pulling), and she’s learning fast! With a little consistency and a lot of praise, this girl is going to shine.

🐕 Dog-friendly? Yes! She can be a bit pushy… but in a very “hi let’s be BEST FRIENDS RIGHT NOW” puppy way.

🐈 Cat-friendly? Also yes! She adores cats and just wants to play — zero mean bone in her body.

🎾 Favorite games? Fetch is LIFE. Tug-of-war is a close second.

🚗 Car rides? She’s great in the car and ready for adventures.

👩‍🦰👨‍🦱 People? Obsessed. Macie loves every human she meets like she’s known them forever.

Fully house trained and crate trained.

Macie is young, happy, affectionate, and overflowing with love. She’s the kind of dog that makes your house feel warmer and your days a little brighter.

Honestly… what more could you ask for? 💕

📩 If you’re ready for a playful, loving companion who will adore you endlessly, Macie is waiting.

Additional adoption info

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day!
For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites.
For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

Adoption Fees:
$80 cats up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 kittens up to 6 months
$120 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older

Go meet their pets

The Austin Animal Center is open for adoptions every day from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Please note, Adoption and Pet Resource Center lines close at 6:00 p.m. We're closed Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Thanksgiving Day to give our staff some time with family.
Interested adopters should come to the shelter during business hours to meet with a counselor start looking for a pet who'll be a good fit. Our counselors and volunteers are happy to help with that process.

More about this shelter

Austin Animal Center is the largest open-intake animal shelter in central Texas and we work very hard to try to save 90% or more of the thousands of animals we shelter every year. We always need volunteers and both monetary and in-kind donations to help us in our sheltering and prevention activities. Visit our website to find out how you can help!
