My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this Tikka arrived:
Tikka was brought in by a community member on December 13, 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
This sweet 12-year-old Chihuahua is a gentle little lady who is dreaming of a cozy place to call home. She may be a bit shy when you first meet her, but with patience and kindness she quickly shows her loving, tender personality and settles in beautifully. She has been around children and has done well, especially when things are kept calm and gentle. She hasn't yet spent time with other animals, so slow, thoughtful introductions would be best if there are pets in the home. One of her favorite things is stretching out in a warm, sunny spot, happily soaking up the sunshine and enjoying a peaceful nap. She truly shines in quiet moments and would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a sweet, easygoing friend to share their days with. Make sure to bring a leash and collar and come meet her today!

At SDHS:
Tikka has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed . Tikka is now ready for her new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
