Meet Bando! He is a 4-year-old, 50-pound sweetheart who has already captured the hearts of everyone he’s met. Despite arriving at the shelter underweight, he has shown nothing but resilience, gentleness, and a deep desire to connect with his people. He has already gained back some healthy weight and is getting healthier by the day. Calm, affectionate, and quietly charming, Bando is the kind of dog who leans in close and makes you feel chosen.
In his temporary foster home, Bando was a model guest. He’s polite indoors, and settles beautifully into a routine. He was left in his kennel a few times for a few hours, and settled in nicely after ten minutes. He calms quickly and sleeps most of the time while you are gone. He’s respectful of furniture, does well on hardwood floors and stairs, and even waits patiently to be invited before going up or down. He’s quiet overall, only giving a soft woof if someone enters the home. He’s also wonderfully tolerant of handling—he allowed his foster to wipe his paws, dress him in a shirt to stay warm, and gently manage his care without issue. Bando is house-trained, goes out regularly, and has excellent bathroom manners.
Bando enjoys lounging nearby, always wanting to be close—whether that means resting his head against you, sitting cheek-to-cheek, or gently leaning in for comfort. He doesn’t shower you with kisses but loves to cuddle, and his soft, steady affection speaks volumes. He takes treats gently while sitting and LOVES to be brushed. Bando knows “sit,” “stay,” “leave it,” and “come,” is very treat-motivated, and responds well to gentle guidance. His playful side emerged—he loves toys, especially his purple dental grape, longs, and rope toys, and is eager to explore more as he continues to heal.
Bando walks nicely on leash and enjoys sniffing his surroundings, especially when there are interesting smells to investigate. He knows to sit when others pass by. He’s shown polite curiosity toward other dogs on walks and is easily redirected with treats. Bando walked in a harness in his foster home and did well. He did well meeting new people inside and outside of the home. He visited a few dog friendly stores and had no accidents, no jumping, and no pulling. He politely let some strangers pet him and let others that weren`t interested pass by as he sat. And he didn’t try to take anything off the shelves!
Sweet, soulful, and incredibly loving, Bando is ready for a home where he can continue to h
