My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Laverne (Senior Sweetheart & Professional Love Sponge) 🤍🐾

Laverne is one of the sweetest 11-year-old seniors you will ever meet. She was found roaming the streets with her best girl Shirley, and those two are a package deal — no separating this dynamic duo.

Now, full disclosure: Laverne doesn’t see very well and her hearing is fading. To get her attention, you’ll either need to speak up at a very high decibel… or stand directly in front of her waving like an overexcited Taylor Swift fan seeing Taylor on stage for the first time. Either works. She’s worth it.

This precious girl is very skinny right now, but she’s officially on a new senior diet with extra nutrients and vitamin supplements, and we’re hopeful she’ll start filling out soon. She has the sweetest little white face, and she absolutely lives for human affection. If you’re looking for a dog who just wants to be loved on, Laverne is your girl.

We believe she would do just fine in a home with other dogs. She is not house trained, but at her age that’s to be expected — she does potty immediately when taken outside and just needs someone understanding and patient.

Most importantly, Laverne is deeply bonded with Shirley, and they will be adopted together. They’ve been through too much to be apart now.

More about this rescue

Journey's Legacy is a small rescue in Cleveland, TN. We save dogs from the local shelter, off the streets, and occasionally owner surrenders if there is room or an urgent need. We have dogs in foster homes, boarding facilities, and the ranch. We specialize in medium to large breed dogs. We are working hard to get laws to change to require pet owners to spay and neuter their pets to stop the overpopulation of animals.
