Shirley Bird (Senior Diva, Professional Butt-Scratch Enthusiast) 🐶💁♀️
Shirley Bird is one of the sweetest 11-year-old seniors you’ll ever meet. She was found roaming the streets with her partner in crime and best friend, Laverne — and honestly, we won’t even get into why anyone would abandon two precious little old lady dogs, because that part still breaks our hearts.
Shirley has a bit of arthritis and very few teeth left, but don’t let that fool you — this girl still has opinions. She sports a boisterous bark, puts some serious pep in her step at mealtime, and devours her food like it’s the best meal she’s had in years (which, in her defense, every meal probably is).
She loves the simple things in life: her raised bed, her favorite blanket, soft stuffed toys, and yelling at her own reflection in the window (rude stranger alert 🚨). She is also an elite athlete in the sport of Butt Scratch Appreciation. Stand behind her and scratch, and you’ll have a fan for life. Stop scratching? She’ll nudge you relentlessly until services resume.
We think Shirley would do fine in a home with other dogs, though she can be a little bossy around food — a lady has to set boundaries. She is not house trained, but at her age it’s understandable that she can’t hold it for long and just needs a patient, loving home.
Shirley is deeply bonded with Laverne, and these two will be adopted together — no exceptions.
📍 Located in Cleveland, TN
🚗 Transport available to other states
💲 Adoption fee: $100 total for both
If you’re looking for a senior with personality, heart, and a very strong opinion about butt scratches, Shirley Bird (and her girl Laverne) are ready to steal your heart. 🤍🐾

Journey's Legacy is a small rescue in Cleveland, TN. We save dogs from the local shelter, off the streets, and occasionally owner surrenders if there is room or an urgent need. We have dogs in foster homes, boarding facilities, and the ranch. We specialize in medium to large breed dogs. We are working hard to get laws to change to require pet owners to spay and neuter their pets to stop the overpopulation of animals.
