My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Oscar! 🐾💙

Oscar is a beautiful 4-month-old Akita puppy with a big future ahead of him—this handsome boy is going to be GIANT when fully grown! Right now, he’s all puppy curiosity, fluff, and charm, but he will grow into a large, powerful dog who will need guidance, structure, and commitment.

Because of his breed and size potential, Oscar would thrive in a home with Akita or large-breed experience, or adopters who are ready and excited to learn. Early, positive socialization is incredibly important for him, and he would ideally go to a home with other dogs, cats, and kids so he can continue learning appropriate social skills as he grows.

Oscar is smart, affectionate, and eager to bond deeply with his forever family. With consistency, training, and lots of love, he has all the potential to become an amazing lifelong companion.

💙🐾 Oscar is looking for a dedicated, experienced, and loving home that understands the joy and responsibility of raising a giant-breed puppy. If you’re ready for the commitment, Oscar is ready for you!

More about this shelter

The Gulf Coast Humane Society is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) animal welfare organization dedicated to serving the animals and community of Southwest Florida. We receive no federal, state, or county funding, nor do we receive financial support from the Humane Society of the United States. Instead, our lifesaving work is made possible through the generosity of individual donations, grants, bequests, and community fundraising efforts.

As a no kill shelter, Gulf Coast Humane Society is committed to providing compassionate care for unwanted, neglected, and abandoned animals. We never euthanize due to space constraints or the length of time an animal has been in our care. Our mission is to give every animal the second chance they deserve in a safe and loving environment.
