Meet Mocha Bean, a 2-year-old, 40-lb German Shepherd/Husky mix with a heart as big as her ears. Mocha survived being abandoned and starving this summer, and since her rescue, she’s blossomed into a loyal, affectionate, and intelligent companion. She bonds deeply with her
people and thrives on attention, play, and mental stimulation. She’s spayed, vaccinated, crate-trained, and mostly house-trained (we think she's never lived indoors before we found her). Mocha Bean is best, adult home (or with older, calm children) where she can have consistency, structure, and plenty of enrichment. She did successfully live with a larger female pittie and did well. She does not do well with small animals. She’s making progress with separation anxiety and loves walks, training, and cuddles. Mocha Bean has come a long way since her rescue and she’s ready to meet the person who will see her sweet, goofy, loving side and never give up on her.

Founded in 2005, we are a volunteer home-based rescue group run by dedicated volunteers. Our dogs live in volunteer homes as family members with the same love, care and attention they would receive in an adoptive home.
We provide training, socialization, vet care and evaluation for all of the dogs in our care. All of our dogs are vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed or neutered prior to adoption.
GSDRI is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization licensed by the state of Iowa.
