My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I’m Lucy!
Yes, that Lucy — bold in spirit, even if I’m still finding my courage.

I’m about 3 months old and was found in a parking lot with my nine siblings, so the world (and especially humans walking around) can feel a little overwhelming right now. I might dart away when you move, but if you scoop me up, I’ll melt right into you and look deep into your eyes like I’m trying to tell you all my worries. I’m not spicy — just scared, like a true Peanuts character learning life lessons one day at a time.

Once I’m feeling safe, my playful side comes out! I love wrestling and chasing my brothers, and after a good round of zoomies, I enjoy curling up with a calm older cat who helps me feel secure. I especially like laying next to my foster’s resident cat — everyone needs their own Linus with a security blanket, right?

Because I gain so much confidence from feline friends, I will need to go home with another kitten or into a home that already has a friendly cat. Having a buddy helps me feel safe and brings out my best, bravest self.

I’m a big fan of Cat TV (birds are my favorite channel), proudly carry my Go Cat crinkle ball around like a prized possession, and I will absolutely chow down on a Churu. Snacks = happiness.

I may be shy now, but with patience, love, and a gentle home, I know I’ll blossom into the confident Lucy I’m meant to be — maybe even bossy someday (very on brand).

If you’re looking for a sweet, soulful kitten who just needs a little reassurance that everything will be okay… I think we could be a good grief! kind of perfect match.

More about this rescue

Smittens isn’t just another cat rescue.
We are a coalition of volunteers with a spay/neuter mission, dedicated to helping both stray and owned animals in the greater San Diego area get fixed, receive veterinary care, and whatever else they may need! Smittens works with shelters and other rescues to route cats to proper vet care and eventual homes, and we take in stray cats who need help getting off the street. We also support TNR for feral cats, and assist cat and dog owners to get their own pets fixed and vaccinated at a low cost.
