My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

That smile says it all. Morty is a happy, goofy chocolate pibble mix with the kind of face that makes strangers stop and say, “Oh my gosh.” Big grin, bright eyes, wagging tail—he’s pure sunshine in dog form.

Morty was sadly abandoned, so we don’t know much about his past, but what we do know is that he’s a really good dog. He loves attention, leans in for affection, enjoys his toys, and is very motivated by treats (and who isn’t?). He’s playful, gentle, and just an all-around lovable guy.

Morty can be a little unsure at first in new situations, but once he feels safe, his goofy, affectionate personality shines right through. Give him a little patience, a little love, and he’ll give you that smile every single day.

If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a huge heart and an even bigger grin, Morty might be your guy.

More about this shelter

We are a local non-profit organization run and staffed by your neighbors. We make decisions on caring for homeless, unwanted, abandoned and abused domestic animals based on what we believe is best for them. We have no affiliation with any larger group and we receive no funding from any larger group that might influence our decisions or actions.

We advocate only for the animals in our care to help them find their forever home with you.

UPAWS does not receive operating funds from any governmental agency. We rely on donations from our neighbors and friends to make our efforts possible. We save consistently 98% of the animals who come to us – which is an award-winning success story. We want to educate everyone on proper animal care so there soon won’t be the three percent who come to us too sick or wounded to be saved. It’s your support that makes this dream possible.
