My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there, I`m Toro — German Shepherd mix with a heart full of curiosity and a tail that never stops wagging!

I weigh around 58 lbs of friendly energy, and I`m ready to find my forever home. I may still be young, but I’m already a leash-walking pro — no pulling or drama here, just smooth strolls and lots of sniffing! I LOVE exploring the world and checking out every sight, sound, and scent. Think of me as your four-legged adventure buddy with a built-in GPS for fun.

Don’t let my explorer side fool you, though — I’m just as happy making new friends (both people and pups). I’m friendly, curious, and always up for some quality hangout time. Whether it`s a hike, a car ride, or a lazy afternoon in the backyard, I’m all in. If you`re looking for a smart, sweet, and fun-loving best friend to grow up with, look no further. Toro is ready to be your sidekick for life — are you ready for the adventure?

More about this shelter

The City of Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department’s mission is to protect and serve the pets and people of Albuquerque by providing Caregiving, Awareness, Resources, Enforcement and Service excellence.

AWD is always in need of foster homes for our pets who need time to grow, recovery from illness or injury or in need of a break from the shelter. Foster homes increase our capacity to provide services to homeless pets in our community. If you would like to donate toys, towels and milk-bones are always in need. Volunteer opportunities are also available at our shelters.
